We stayed at the beautiful Henderson Park Inn located right off the Henderson state park right by the beach. This beautiful and peaceful hotel provides clear views of the beach and ocean. The beaches look unreal with their white sand and emerald water. You simply cannot stop soaking in the Beach vibes and the sun-shine.
Henderson Park Inn is a couples only Hotel!! It’s the perfect Romantic Getaway with ocean front rooms and fine dining all under one roof. Highly recommend this place for a couple’s retreat!! If you have kids not a problem, there is another hotel Henderson Beach Resort and Spa where you can stay with Families. Its one street away from the beach but has direct access to the Private Beach Area as well.
Don’t spend too much time basking in the beauty of the hotel because there is a lot to see in Destin!! For starters make your way to the Henderson State Park just a 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. A natural ecosystem by the beach with beautiful local plant species to admire.
If your are in the mood for dance and some drinks head to the Crab Island located close to the Destin Boardwalk area. This island is actually underwater and you need to anchor your boat to step into the shallow waters to walk on the island. There are plenty of Floating bars and arenas to check out here!! Just grab a drink and lay back in the floats to enjoy the fine weather of Destin!! One of the Locals was also kind enough to help us spot a few crabs!! Ewwww!! Guess thats where the Island gets its name from!!
Destin is more of a Small-Big town rather than a Village!! It has cashed in on the in-flux of tourists building an ocean drive boulevard containing all Big Town amenities from Target, Walmart to AMC Theaters, Fine Dining and Famous Retail Stores. Its got everything for your daily shopping!! There are sprawling communities where people have bought their seconds homes and frequent their visits to this small town during the sunny seasons!!
Take a walk along the Destin Harbor Boardwalk which is home to several restaurants and bars. Margaritaville is a fantastic option for Dinner!! There are always events being conducted at the Boardwalk which are crowd pullers!! Its a perfect place to spend the evening.
Several events also take place throughout the year as well. For the month of October, the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo draws anglers to Destin each year since 1948.Also in the month of October is the Destin Seafood Festival, where fresh seafood and local artists gather for one weekend every October.
